Vacation

This morning for what reason we have no idea E tells us he is going on vacation. So here is our converstation:

Us: Where are you going?
E: Disney World (which later he changes to Land)(I don't think he knows the difference)
Us: How are you going to get there?
E: I am going to take a taxi and then get on an airplane. I know how to get there.
Us: Okay, who are you going w/?
E: By myself (which later he adds my mom and then dad)
Us: Do we get to go?
E: No. But I will miss you. I need to get my backpack and pack my stuff.

So E gets his suitcase out of the closet and packs a few toys. Then he tells me he needs some clothes and PJs. So I give him 1 pair of PJs some underwear and a pair of pants. Then he puts on my shoes (he is still in his PJs) and asks for his coat. We told him he didn't need it. Then he says he is going to go out the door. To which we say uh I don't think so. So for the last 2 hours or so he has been impatiently awaiting his taxi. So does he really think one is coming I am not sure. We have tried to get him focused on something else but it just don't seem to work. So I guess this is his version of running away. Which is going to be kindof hard for him since he isn't even allowed to go out the door w/out one of us. I am interested to see how long this is going to go on today. But he is very persistant. Oh boy!!!

Improvements

E has made so many improvements at school since I last posted. He had a rough several months and he is doing so well now! It is a very obvious difference to everyone. He has even been doing things I thought he would never participate in. He actually stayed for the Thanksgiving feast at school which I wasn't sure if he would especially since there were some parents that came. However the sing-a-long and Christmas party were another story. He did okay at first for the party but then when they started playing games he lost it. The good news is he has grown so much that he now knows when to remove himself out into the hall. I can't blame him though it was really crazy w/all the parents and kids and so much going on so after trying several times to get him to come back in the room I decided we should go home. The sing-a-long was the same way it was to many people and to loud but the good thing about that was that it was the last day before break so we decided to go and hand out our goodies to his teachers and office staff instead. Which he really enjoyed! We have been trying to teach him about hugging other people. He (as you all know) loves to give hugs to people so we are trying to teach him to only hug people if they want a hug. Which from what I saw the girls always want hugs from him. From what I have been told all of the girls love him and there is one or two that are always w/him!

Pig? Elf?

So for Christmas some of you might know that Hallmark came out with these snowglobe looking things that when you press a button they sing and dance. There are 4 of them in all and when you connect them they all move at the same time. So anyway one of them is an elf. E loved to listen to the music and watch them dance and was soooo excited everytime I brought home a new one. So he was watching them all and said something about a pig. So we told him that's not a pig it is an elf so from that moment on that one became know as the pig named elf. We would crack up everytime we heard him say it. We tried to correct him several times before we just eventually gave up!

Frustrating Thursday

The mailman who delivers in our neighborhood is always giving us the mail to the couple on the other street. So I told E that we could walk down to the park and he wanted to take some crackers and so we wrapped them up in a napkin. Well before we go we decided to go and give the couple on the next street over their mail (we had never met them). So we take it to them and they are really nice and she invites us in. Had a had it to do all over again I wouldn't have gone in. So we go and are talking and their house is so beautiful! My curious little dude starts making his way up there stairs! Now we have stairs in our house so it's not like he had never seen any before. I am trying everything I can to get him to come back down. He contiues and goes all the way upstairs I can't even see him. Keep in mind I don't even know these people. He gets up there and they have this little balcony area that you open the door in the room up there and you are on the balcony above where we are standing. So I am like "get down here now! " so he comes down and then proceeds down there hall and goes into one of their rooms and gets out there exercise ball and bounces it into the hallway. I am completely freaking outside all while trying to remain like I am sane person. I end up telling her about how he has AS and all not knowing what else to say. Finally after a while of me grabbing his hand to stay w/me, he trying to play the piano and then looking out their peephole and slamming it shut after I told him not to we went outside. Thank goodness we are back outside right everything should good. Right? Uh no. So we still talking b/c she comes outside to talk. So he pulls of a leaf from one of the bushes. I am like E don't do that. Well he then sees some girls playing so he runs over to them. They run away from him (he doesn't get it). Then these other two girls come over to him and the 2 that ran away join them and they start talking to him. They ask him what is in his napkin and they start naming stuff and one of them says it stinks is it poop. I am thinking come on why would he be holding poop and then one of them says pee. The whole time E is just shaking his head and and they are like can't you talk? This whole time the woman is still talking to me and I am just focused on what they are saying to him. So he motions for them to follow him and they do and he leads them to me. So one of the girls asks me can he talk? I was like yes. I said E say something to them. I think he said his name and some other stuff but he wasn't talking clearly so I didn't understand him and then the ring leader girl says why is he all motioning. I told them he had crackers in the napkin and he was trying to tell them it was a special treat. Not sure why he was saying that. Anyway so the girls are kindof walking away when I hear one of them say to the others creepy! My heart just sank. Of course he didn't know what they were talking about. He was wanting to play w/them and I guess he said something b/c I heard one of them say something about she was at the girls house to play so they have to play together. Then he follows the little girl across the street w/out even looking for cars!! So I told the lady we had to go and thankfully her phone started ringing so she had to go anyway. Needless to say we didn't make it to the park. After J got home we talked about it all and realized at some point we are going to have to discuss who are your friends and who aren't. There has only been one time I have ever told him that someone wasn't his friend and that was at Big Splash this summer when a little boy keep hitting him or something like that and E keep calling him his friend. I kept telling him a friend is not someone who hits you. He totally didn't get it though.

E's Birthday Present Request

Tonight at dinner J looks outside and says "hey look a turtle." Sure enough there was a turtle making it's way down the road. So E says "I want a turtle for my birthday." E's birthday is in October. So we say well we will see. Then a few mintues later 2 little girls go by riding on their bikes and shortly after here comes the mom pushing a stroller. So E says "Aww look a little baby. I love babies. It's so cute!" Then he follows it w/"I want a baby for my birthday!" J and I look at each other. So then I ask "a pretend baby or a real baby?" To which of course he replies "a real one" oh boy! Then J asks him "Would you rather have a turtle for you birthday or a baby?" To which again for coure his answer is "a baby". I am pretty sure this is one birthday present he won't be getting this year! Maybe next year! So if you hear him talking about getting a new baby no I am not pregnant. We are just hoping he forgets!

Flashback Friday

E 3 1/2 months old

Kindergarten take 3

So I am happy to report that today was a way better day then the last 2. I did send his lunch today (and went up there during lunch) and he did great. He actually ate food and a lot of it. His only issue now is he is a little slow b/c he has to take everything apart. I mean even a cookie like an oreo he has to dig out all the middle and eat it and then eat each piece of of the cookie by itsself. His teachers have told me though that everyday he is doing better and better. Although today I got a phone call and as soon as I saw the school name on the id I was like oh no. As you may remember from last year most of the time it was for me to come and get him or some bad issue. Well it was but it wasn't. It was the teacher assistant (such a sweet person) and she just wanted to know if I had any tips or suggestions for different situations for him like group time and rest time. So all in all not a bad conversation and I was very pleased that they really care enough to call and ask. That just makes me feel so much better about everything. This morning when I took him into school the principle said hi to him and even called him by name and said that she had been checking on him and that she heard he was doing great. I was like wow the 3rd day of school and she already knows his name that is impressive. Now I know most people would be like the principle knows your kids name that is not good. Well in E's case it is b/c to me that means she is paying attention to the kids who may require a little extra care. I don't actually what you would refer to it as but it just really made my day. So so far I am happy w/what is going on. Oh and by the way he did end up getting the teacher that Mrs. D (from last year) wanted him to have. I was so glad b/c she had said he really needs her b/c she is very structured and that is something he needs! So yay for awesome progress!
